The top of one
of Connecticut's highest peaks doesn't sound like a great place
to be during a blizzard, but for WDRC engineer Bob Coe, it
was almost like a vaction. This Hartford Courant article
from December 30, 1947 details what life was like atop West Peak
in Meriden.
Bob started
his broadcast engineering career with WTIC. During World War II
he was instrumental in developing the Radio Proximity Fuse at Johns
Hopkins Laboratory in Washington, D.C. After the war he began a
lengthy career with WDRC, retiring to his home in Manchester
in 1971. He died on March 23, 1994 at the age of 87!
